As a Member of Congregation Beth Knesset Bamidbar you are encouraged to attend Erev Shabbat services at least once a month for a number of reasons. On Friday the services vary will vary. We have a more traditional service led by Rabbi Berk once a month and Simcha Service once a month with Rabbi Berk assisted by Fran Beckerman where we celibrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. We have a Musical service once a month led by our Cantorial soloist Fran Beckerman where she introduces some new songs and new melodies to tradidional songs. We have, except for the summer months, a family service led by Doe Ryti geared toward the families with children. During the Summer we have a lay leader lead a service geared towards adults. And, also once a month we have a service led by a lay leader, usually Sheldon Moscowitz. It is also an oppurtunity to chat with Rabbi Berk on the weekends he is here. it’s also a wonderful way to meet more of the members of BKB at the Oneg after the service.
We have a Torah service twice a month led by Rabbi Berk. You are also encouraged to attend a least one of the Torah services and be a part of the Minyan needed to bring out and read from the Torah. You can also ask for an honor, such as an ark opening or an aliyah, given on a first come first served basis.
As a member of BKB you will be asked to help out in a number of ways according to your abilities and resources.
You Could be called upon to:
Help out at one of the events hosted by the Temple
Help out at one of the High Holy Days Services
Participate in the Purim Spiel and carnival
Help put up and tear down the sukkah
Come to a Mitzvah day at the Temple and help with the scheduled project
and more…
We do these things to help create a better community. A community dedicated to spirituality, friendship and growth. As members we are the caretakers of a Jewish community that has been in the Antelope Valley for over 60 years. Our job as members is to ensure that Congregation Beth Knesset Bamidbar will be here for future generations.
